Waste diversion more effective than burying it

Coucillor Shad Qadri responds to article by R Denley in the Citizen.

Questions of the City of Ottawa's belief that landfills are unnecessary and statements that the city has no alternatives to waste handling are incorrect in my opinion.

The city's blue and black box recycling and organics programs, as well as modern solutions like the Plasco technology, have allowed the city to say that there is no need for landfill expansions.
